Quiet

The house is quiet.

Weirdly quiet.

It's generally filled with Himself, various kids and dogs.

Himself is in Disney with some of the kids. I was supposed to be there, too, but even though I've ditched the crutches (YAY!!) I'm not up to a Disney trip. At least not the way my family does Disney...I've Fitbitted that in the past. It's generally at least a 20,000+ day. Yep, my swiss cheese thigh and I bowed out. And since Ella passed away, I'm here in this eerily quiet house.

I'm working on a new book and the main character is suddenly alone. And I think I understand the silence closing in on her better than I did when I started her story. I was trying to remember a time when I was all alone in a house for any extended period and came up blank. Most of the time, I'm cramming my work into the quiet minutes between the crazy ones. This week, I have a string of quiet minutes. And I'm hermit enough to enjoy the change of pace. For me it's a treat, but for my character...  Looking at a lifetime of those quiet minutes is a daunting task.

So I'm filling these quiet minutes by cooking food I love and Himself isn't such a fan of. (I made a banging cream of chicken and tortillini soup...mmm.) I'm working on the book I mentioned and in the studio, and I'm trying to finish this last Sanderson's Stormlight book (Dude, 1,200 pages?). I think I'm fortunate that I love solitude. LOL

How about you? Chaos or quiet? Or like me, do you enjoy a healthy mix of both?

A Day Late and a Bride Short!!

I am so utterly excited that A Day Late and a Bride Short is finally available for your Kindle!!  This was the second book I wrote for Silhouette Romance.   I'm using "Holly Jacobs'Classic" just to let you know this is one of my earliest stories. Thank you everyone who's asked to have it available for their devices.

Thirteen years ago, when I sent this proposal to my editor, she sent me back a note from the Senior Editor saying that with that title, she'd expected a marriage of convenience story.  My original idea wasn't that at all, but as a very newish author,I said, "That's exactly what it will be."  My editor bought the proposal.

It wasn't quite the story I intended to tell and to be honest, I wasn't sure how to write a contemporary marriage of convenience.  As someone who's been married for many years--someone who is still wildly in love with her husband--I have to confess, marriage isn't always convenient!

Sarah and Donovan's story is available for preorder now!! Thanks so much and happy reading!

More Than Magic WINNER!!!!!

A Holly Jacobs' Classic Romance...
First Time as an eBook.

Donovan is an attorney on the rise. He's next in line for a partnership at his law firm. There's just one item missing from his resume...a wife.

Sarah is trying to get her fledgling business off the ground. She's looking for an attorney to help recoup the money she's owed. Money that could mean the difference between a successful business and scrapping her dream. She is absolutely NOT looking for a fiance, much less a husband. But when Donovan offers Sarah an engagement-of-convenience, she lets herself get persuaded it's just business.

Donovan and Sarah both discover when love enters the picture, their engagement isn't convenient in the least!

Reviews:

"... a beautiful, and sweet, love story. ...I can highly recommend this one it will stay with you long after you close the back cover." ~Romantic Times Bookclub, 4 1/2 Stars, TOP PICK!!

"My favorite Holly Jacobs book yet! What starts out as an engagement of convenience turns into a charming and delightful love story. Elias Donovan and Sarah Madison seems like extreme opposites until core values and heart's desires are revealed in this tale of awakening love. Ms. Jacob allows her energetic writing and talent for pairing entertaining characters to shine in A DAY LATE AND A BRIDE SHORT." ~Cheryl St.John, Author of MARRY ME…AGAIN, SSE, 8/03

"Ms. Jacobs has done it again! She has penned a delightful tale, full of her trademark humor and pure, sweet emotion. She has taken what could be a tired storyline – a marriage of convenience – and worked her own brand of magic on it, making it different and new. Of course, as said before, humor abounds, and there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments to be found." (4 1/2 stars) ~Kelley Hartsell, Love Romances

"...you will love this one." ~Helen Slifer, Writers Unlimited Reviewer  "A Day Late and a Bride Short is sure to put a smile on your face..." ~Sharon Wren, Women on Writing Reviews

#Teaser Tuesday...Carry Her Heart

Given the weather that's gripping most of the US, I thought this was an appropriate #TuesdayTeaser!

Carry Her Heart
release date 4-28-15

I’d always thought that autumn smelled of cinnamon. I breathed deeply and decided winter smelled of peppermint. Not peppermint candy, but the real herb I had growing in the backyard. Sharp, cold, with a bit of a bite. Clean. Not that it was officially winter yet, but the season arrives early on the shore of Lake Erie.

As if on cue, it started to snow.

“And thus it begins,” Ned intoned.

I laughed. “Another Erie winter.”

“Snow shovels and snowblowers,” he said.

I added, “Snow brushes.”

Ned took it as a challenge, thought a moment and said, “Snow pants.”

“Come on, that’s a bit of a cheat.
